A weight-optimised vertical axis specially developed to customer requirements is used in a battery cell production process. It is used to remove the cells from the ongoing production process for quality control.
Due to the ongoing production process, the drives must have a long cycle time and be maintenance-free. The linear gantry used consists of a linear motor axis HT-L as a transverse axis and a weight-optimised linear axis as a vertical axis. Both are equipped with linear motors. The vertical axis is designed for high dynamic response at maximum payload and is equipped with a counterweight to reduce the continuous load on the motor. The Z-axis works on the cantilever principle, whereby the electrical part (forcer) is stationary, i.e. the electrical cables do not move. The modular design allows several vertical axes on one transverse axis and a wide range of customisations.
Compared to other linear motor axes, the vertical axis is characterised by maximum dynamic response and a compact design.
Requirements:
- High dynamic response despite 6 kg vertical payload
- Absolute encoder with functional safety
- Wear-free drives
- Modular system
