Drive technology in laser system

Our linear guideways and linear motors are part of a laser system for laser cutting and laser welding of components for renewable energies.

The gantry system is made up of an X-axis, two parallel synchronized Y-axes and a Z-axis. The portal beam, which is made of steel, has been manufactured in a complex and rigid sheet metal construction to ensure the high dynamic response that is essential for this application. Our linear guides from the HG, QHH and WEW series are used in the X- and Y-axis. Three blocks are mounted on each of the Y-axes to optimally distribute the masses and the enormous tensile forces of the drives to the guide. WEW guides are used to retract the pallet feeders and close the machine doors. The extremely wide ball guide enables maximum moment load capacity, especially in the Mx direction, due to its rail width and low overall height.

In the parallel Y-axes, linear motors from the LMFA series are installed to maintain high acceleration and precision. The installed direct drives achieve significantly higher precision compared to a purely mechanical component, which is why our customer decided to use linear motors here. Our linear guideways and a ballscrew are also used in the Z-axis. And our MG miniature guides are installed in the beam switch for precise and repeatable positioning of the switch.

Together with our customer, we have created a real heavyweight with a total weight of 10 tons.
